Y (10), Graphite on paper, 19" x 19"

Y (10) is one out of an eleven part series of graphite drawings that
examines and interrogates gender categorization and plays with the leeway between biological sex and concepts of psychological gender. Originally conceived for an all-male invitational exhibition these drawings act as a response to gender as a mode of person perception. Ambiguity is a tool that I employ in this series to blur the line between the social constructs of male and female distinctions.
