|The Nude in the 21st Century|
I used to draw OR paint. A change happened in my work when I began to better combine the two. I layer additional drawing on top of painting and begin the process anew. (Pencil and acrylic on tough paper permit this.) The artwork "stays alive" longer, and my intention is for the final work to retain the energy that went into making it.
I am inspired by both the work of representation artists whose work shows a sense of struggle and abstract artists whose work is so visually rich it tells me a story. I work to combine the strengths of representation and abstraction.
I create images that I don't want to stop looking at - fountains, gardens, rooms and people. These images engage me before, during and after the process of creating the artwork.
