Hannah, Graphite on toned paper, 10" x 13

I was born in Hyderabad, India. My parents worked as Physicians in India. My father had an avid interest in history and languages. He instilled in us a love of travel and cultural in us. Most of my childhood was spent wandering the ancient tombs, forts and temples in India. The old buildings with their mystical ornate designs and rich history instilled in me a quest for a timeless aesthetic in art.

I always find myself thinking about a painting or drawing on several levels. From structure to emotional content. Several parallel conversations occur in my head about a particular piece. To put things very dryly my subject include still life, figure, portraits and architecture. I realize that as it might sound strange to many but a lot of good work is a result of an equal amount of contemplation as it is a product of an inspiring subject. I have seen several artists express a similar idea. I believe that is what brings philosophy and art closer.
