This piece is a functional kite, hand sewn canvas on wood dowel framework. The painting is meant to evoke the freedom of flight, using the metaphor of a familiar children's character. Stripping away the prim and proper persona gives the viewer a window into a more accessible freedom.
My personal journey as a naturist informs my work. I seek to communicate the liberation of nudity in my paintings, depicting real people and real experiences. It is my hope that people connect with the freedom that comes from shedding the "armor" that we wear, and that more often wears us.
