Self-Portrait with Gentileschi Painting, Susanna, Watercolor on Yupo surface, 14" x 11"

Artist posing in response to painting by Artemisia Gentileschi at Tate British Museum, London. Background is a 1639 version of Susanna based on the biblical story, representing moral values and distress for a female victim. Artemisia herself was a victim of rape in 17th century Rome.

My watercolors depict famous artworks I have experienced in person and observed them as seen by the viewer in a museum art gallery or outside in a palazzo in Italy, which offers the passing by audience a view of a famous sculpture by Michelangelo of David. I aim to show the experience of observing art and the interaction of interesting visual content as I interpret my visual surroundings.
